Overview of National Youth Services Council About Us Home / About Us The National Youth Services Council at present function as the forerunner amaong the country’s youth development agencies with its proven track record. The current needs of the youth is significantly different from that of the time of its inception. The National Youth Services Council also has evolved its dynamic role to cater to the current needs of the youth with a new vigour, fresh outlook and a refined approach. The transformation is best witnessed by the introduction of “Sri Lanka Youth”‘ concept which emphasise preparation of Sri Lankan youth to face the challenges of the 21st century. The “Sri Lanka Youth” is the key to take youth of the country to the threshold of global level. The concept behind “Sri Lanka Youth” is to empower country’s youth population encompassing all the boundaries such as race, caste, religion and geographical differences. The “Sri Lanka Youth” concept envisages the importance of bringing together all governmental, non governmental organizations dedicated for local youth development endeavours for common cause of creating world class youth in the contry. The ‘Sri Lanka Youth concept provides a common platform for all thses agencies to work in harmony to create a better future for the country’s youth. More importnantly, Sri Lanka Youth has been selected to host the International Youth Conference in the year 2014. The prestigious event will provide the opportunity for the Sri Lankan Youth to showcase its achievements to the rest of the world. Sri Lanka Youth is busy making necessary arrangements to make this event a success. National Youth Services Council About Us Existence of a multi talented, discipline and dynamic youth population in a country is always considered a treasure which helps development of the particular country. As such every country gives a special recogntion for the country’s youth. Sri Lanka too places utmost importance on the country’s youth to achieve her mbitious development targets in social and economice spheres. Hence, youth of Sri Lanka are also have an undertaking for economic and social upliftment of the country. It is importat to inculcate self reliance in youths and directing them towards wining over those goals. The National Youth Services Council of Sri Lanka has been established with the aim of guiding the Sri Lankan youth in the propoer direction to enable them to empower themseleves to the fullest potential while contributing to nation’s prosperity. The Youth Services Council was established under tthe Volunteer National Youth Services Act No. 11 of the year 1967 and was revised by the Act No. 52 of 1968. Over the years, activities of the Youth Council was expanded beyond volunteerism and ubsequently the scope was revised again under the Youth Services Council Act No. 69 of 1979 giving the status of a fully pledged youth development organization. The Photography Club of our college is known to be one of the oldest Photography Clubs in the island. After a long period of silence, the club was brought back to life by the 2014 A/L batch. It is now on its way to success through many hardships and obstacles. Yet one thing remains within us, that is the unity within the club and the Passion for Photography!! That is what keeps us going...
