Currently, whale watching takes place in three main locations: Mirissa in the south-west, Kalpitiya in the north-west (peak season for both is October-April) and Trincomalee to the north-east (peak season is December to April). Specially Mirissa is one of the world’s best location.
Responsible whale watching is a great way to appreciate whales and dolphins in their natural environment but it is important that vessels are handled responsibly so that encounters are safe and enjoyable for passengers and whales alike.
