Reggae DJ Effects & Record Bar was found in 1985 Dec 10 by its original founder Luke Elmo Perera. He had a surprisingly massive interest on Reggae music and had a quite a big collection of it. He was earlier a help cook at Oberoy Hotels and after moving out from hotel life he decided to live with some music for he dearly loved the subject very much. He took a small space around Ja – Ela area and opened up a small Record Bar and started recording music for people. He got so much attached to this he was able to help his customers by listening to the tunes and identify songs for the customers. Here he recorded music to cassettes and he was catching up lot of attention of healthy music listeners around that area.
In the beginning of the year 1990 he moved his record bar to Kandana and expanded his recording facilities to CD recordings as well. He kept recording and came up with the idea of DJing for functions, private parties, getogethers etc. They 1st made their entering step on DJing in 1992. They played the music through cassettes and the 1st party they did was a dinner dance.
