The Church of the American Ceylon Mission (CACM) was established in 2007 and was immediately recognized by the mother church in the USA who have appointed 3 of our members as trustees of the American Ceylon Mission. We have 48 Pastors, 48 Congregations – 18 in the peninsula, 19 in the Wanni, 8 in the Eastern province, 1 in the plantation area an d2 in Colombo. The Church of the American Ceylon Mission has its roots in the work of early missionaries in the Jaffna peninsula of Sri Lanka from 1813 onwards. These were missionaries sent by the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (ABCFM), the predecessor body of UCC mission that celebrates 200 years of global mission, and a predecessor body of today’s Global Ministries. The early congregational church of the Jaffna peninsula joined the church union movement in 1947 and became the Jaffna Diocese of the Church of South India. Since 2006 the CACM has been separate from the JDCSI. CACM maintains its long-standing partnership with Global Ministries.

Wednesday, the 2nd of Jumadul aakhir 1427 A.H (28th, June 2006) was a blessed & auspicious day in the history of Sri Lanka when the foundation stone for the renaissance of Islamic sciences was laid down for the very first time in the medium of English. Identifying the need of the hour, for scholars who are proficient & articulate in the language of English, IIISL introduced a full six year course to produce fine academics to serve this Ummah. IIISL, is today a renowned & prestigious religious institute in the pearl of the Indian Ocean, as it was the first of its kind to introduce a day-school educational system for students who wish to pursue higher studies in the sciences of Islam. And currently it is privileged to have 6 batches of students, numbering up to almost a hundred from various areas of the country, from which by the help of almighty Allah the first batch passing out today. And a fine panel of professors & teachers, who hail from different institutes all around the world & locally; such as Al-Azhar university of Egypt, Darul uloom New castle, Darul uloom Zakariyya, Madrasathu-Rashad, Madrasathul Khidriyyah. Finally as a conclusive note, the doors of IIISL are wide open for the ardent seekers of knowledge. As almighty Allah has bestowed on all human beings two very valuable assets, the Qur’an & the Sunnah of our beloved prophet Muhammed (sallAllaahu alaihi wasallam). The path of eternal success lies in acquiring, understanding, practicing & propagating it. So IIISL sincerely wishes that every father, mother & child from all walks, make use of this golden opportunity during their short span of life to achieve eternal success.
