Commando Regiment is a specialized force in the Sri Lankan Army which is into many out door activities as for their pass time and leisure. It has already ventured into many outbound activities such as Rock climbing, Mountain Climbing, parachuting, diving, canoeing, cross country running,cycling and seriously identifies that these activities do contribute immensely to build up cohesiveness, team spirit and leadership qualities of a peace time Commando solider. These activities also demands a certain degree of physical strength which in the long run contribute to maintaining a sound physically and mentally fit person. With this back ground in mind, Commandos undertook the Task of organizing a 4 x 4 Expedition Rally to impart and share our experiences and organizing capability to offer the Sri Lankan 4 x 4 enthusiasts and their family members a yet another wonderful event. This event, a expedition/rally which aims to attract about 50 off road vehicles and SUV's will run for about 6 days rolling down from Point Pedro to UVA KUDA OYA along the Eastern coastal line of Sri Lanka covering almost 500 Kms through the sand dunes, beaches, lagoons and less traveled Jungles of WELIOYA, and THOPPIGALA. Event is scheduled be held from June 10 to June 15 and will offer participants to enjoy the true natural beauty and the 4 x 4 drive experience. Accommodation in tents and blend of local food in a true camping environment already been indicated attracting foreign participants too.
