Galahitiyawa Central College

Galahitiyawa Central College

Galahitiyawa Central Collage, Ganemulla ,
Galahitiyawa Central School was inaugurated in May 1944. It was one of the original 54 Central Schools established by Dr. C.W.W. Kannangara, the then Minister of Education, in the implementation of his free education scheme. An existing school in a central location in each of the electorates at that time was selected to be converted to a Central School so that the rural students in the electorate who passed the fifth standard scholarship test could enter the Central School to follow post-primary, secondary and higher education programmes and eventually enter the university and other tertiary educational institutions. Galahitiyawa was the Central School for the Ja-ela electorate.
