Noor International School, is the first independent international school in the Kalutara district, has the distinction of being the oldest independent school for boys and girls in the city. It was founded in January1990 when the head of the school expressed her surprise by the lack of a junior high school that was taught in English medium in a district the size of Kalutara.
After gaining support from local community as well as the family, the school opened in January1990 with just four 4 full-time pupils at cooray road. Then the school was moved to the mosque street in Kalutara to accommodate the growing number of pupils. Later the school was moved to the central junction and to a better location in the heart of Kalutara city.
In year 2012 the school was moved to a better location in Katukurunda, Kalutara with the aim of developing the facilities and providing a better environment for our pupils. This is a major step moving forward as this property is owned by the school.
