Vijaya College is situated by the acess to Matale from Kamdy Main Road, which was initially started in 1886 and the oldest Buddhist College in Matale District. In 1886 this school was started in a ers Sir.Henry Steel Olcott and the then Post Master Stephen Silva and Sir.D.B.Jayathilake , A.D.S. Wickramasekara , and Prof.Batuwantudawe and Buddhist Clergy / Scholers and will wishers started to spread and re-gain the Buddhist Culture in Sri Lanka. Mudali L.C. Wijesinghe started by the Matale Ubaya Lokarth Society Started in the name of Buddhist Institute Boys school. Shorff Ratwatte donated a land at Hetti Vediya - Matale in a tatched room. On preusing the history the 1st Principal was Mr.Godawela and the 150 children were educated in the school. This school was transferrd to a building at Gongawela in 1889 with the help of Parama Vidyartha Buddhist Scociety. In 1888-1912 Prof. Batuwantudawe and Mr.Shumawa ,Francis Soysa , Weerasinghe , D.S.de silva were the Principal served on this school. In 1912-1922 Mr.M.B.Navaratne, A.D.William Silva,W.A.M. Peiris Silva and D.P.Wanigasekara were served as principales. From 1922-1951 the principal were Mr.Karaliyadda and .V.T. Nanayakkara and considered as the Golden era of this school. From 1922-1931 Mr.V.B. Karaliyadde was the Principal and in 1923 the building was brought to the present land. On the guidance of Mr.Karaliyadde ,Hulanganuwa Rate Mahattaya and Sediyas Silva bought and donated the present land to Vijaya College. The 1st President of Sri Lanka William Goppalawa had extended hist best to buy this land and it had made a big progress to the school. From 1931-1951 The Principal Nanayakkara served as the Principal expanding the buildings and a heavy progress was shown duting this time The Gunasena Hall was built by the J.E. Gunasena in 1947 and donated to the school which was opened by the Prime Minister Mr.D.S.Senanayake. ion to education Sports introduced and the Teams of Vijaya College chalangeother schools in Island. CeyHerbal Ayurveda has its roots in rich Ayurvedic tradition dating back almost 150 years. The company, under the name Sri Jeewaka Aushadha Salawa - ශ්‍රී ජීවක ඖෂධ ශාලාව, was founded in Matale in 1951 by Ayurvedic doctor, W.R. Senewiratne who had been practicing the ancient medicine of Ayurveda as a teenager since 1925, under the tutelage of his father Dr W.R Wyderatne. A popular Ayurvedic doctor in Udasiyapatuwa, Matale, Dr W.R. Wyderatne had been researching and practicing Ayurveda since the 1890s. He obtained his profound knowledge in this ancient science under the tutelage of Ven. Bothota Mahanaya Thero who, with his vast knowledge in this ancient art of healing, had taught him how to prepare all the ayurvedic medicines that have been recorded by his predecessors on palm-leaf books. Enriched with the rich knowledge passed on to him, Dr. W.R. Senewiratne registered the ayurvedic Treatment centre, Sri Jeewaka Aushadha Salawa - ශ්‍රී ජීවක ඖෂධ ශාලාව, and practiced in the districts of Kandy and Matale by healing all types of ailments that were deemed incurable by many physicians of that time. In the 1960s, by popular demand for his services by people of the Pollonaruwa district, Dr W.R Senewiratne opened up a practice in Elahera. During his time in Elahera, he saved the lives of thousands of people in the Pollonaruwa district by using his expert knowledge on ayurvedic medicine. He had the unique talent of identifying diseases that were hidden and successfully treating them. He was known to cure lesions, snake bites and even cancer in several patients. Four of Dr W.R. Senewiratne’s sons also went on to the field of ayurvedic medicine. The youngest, Mr W.R. Chandra Kulawansha, who was in government corporate sector, now a retired school Principal, has used his passion for ayurvedic medicine and with a vast knowledge gathered from his father expanded the company by manufacturing Ayurveda products using the same techniques that were used in his family for over a century. In 2012, W.R. Chandra Kulawansha and his sons re-launched the company under the name CeyHerbal Lanka Pvt. Ltd (DBA CeyHerbal Ayurveda) and expanded their sales market to several parts of the country. All production is still done by hand and only local, organic plants are used in order to obtain the highest assured product quality. More research is underway to develop new ayurvedic herbal products in order to expand its market for the benefit of the people both locally and internationally. CeyHerbal Ayurveda also prides itself on its corporate social responsibility by giving employment opportunities to support local communities. The current management and staff work with the vision of providing the best quality ayurvedic medicine and to preserve the centuries’ old traditions of healing with pure and natural products.
